In the distant past, an elderly couple, who had spent many years unable to conceive, were finally blessed with a child. The man is called Charles Boudelaire, in his early 50s. A tall man with fairly built body, white curly chestnut hair that is starting to become grey. His choice of clothing is a dark brown long coat over a black pants and leather shoes. The woman is Margaret Affenstein, she's about five years older than her husband, and she brandishes an old locket made of bronze, with a string holding it in place, tied in a ribbon behind the neck.
One afternoon, the young lady was sent by her mother to deliver a small bundle of herbs to a neighboring street vendor. She walked through the bustling city streets, dodging carts and townsfolk, but curiosity led her farther than intended. Soon she found herself in a narrow, twisting alley she did not recognize. The alley descended into the lower parts of the city, dark and quiet, and she realized she had lost her way.
It was there, in the pits of the city, that the young lady met an old woman. She was easily in her late seventies. Her eyes, sharp and bright despite her frailty, seemed to weigh the young girl with a gentle curiosity, and her dark, worn garments hung loosely around her small frame, giving her the appearance of almost fading into the shadows of the alley. Yet there was a warmth in her gaze, like a grandmother noticing the smallest tremor of a child’s hand. She stopped and looked at the frailties of the lady, and the old woman did the same, observing her youthful counterpart with a soft, patient smile. The woman was called Elmira.
"how are you doing young lady?", she smilingly asked.
"I am doing fine" Madelaine answered with a nervously crackling voice.
"You look like you have something you want to say, my child" says she.
"uuhhhmmm...."
The little lady, still hesitant to speak, just fell silent and gazed down on her shoes as if she was averting the shame of her existence.
"What is wrong my child?" asked the old lady.
Her gentle voice was unfamiliar but soothing to the child's nervous mind, and yet it makes her feel calm and safe.
"I.... people say I am cursed when I say things..." uttered Madelain.
"What kind of things?" curiously asked by the lady.
"I am very sorry, it is probabyly of no importance." said the little girl.
"My dear, you will go through life to a ripe old age like myself, and it is wise to remember some very important lessons to bear through it all."
"Your little piece of knowledge may be the greatest gift somebody has ever received."
"Knowing something, is better than knowing nothing. So.. tell me young lady, what is it that you saw in your dreams?"
Madelaine was surprised, she didn't mention anything about her dreams, but speaking with this old lady somehow feels different. As if she can be trusted without being judged.
"I dream of things that happened long ago, and things that has not happened yet... I think..." Madelaine shakingly answered.
"Oh good golly my dear, you are a 'Clairvoyant'!" exclaimed the old lady.
"So tell me child, what did you see in the distant past?"
"Uhhmm.. many people, build a pointy castle... "
"And these people, what do they look like?"
"they are wearing heavy clothing"
"The big stones, how did they carry them?"
"They didn't.... they crush them from the mountains until they are dust, and then they carry the dust, and mix it with water and it becomes a stone again, but a more beautiful shape than what it was before..."
"Little one, may I ask how you see them?"
"Sometimes when I sleep, I see it in my dreams. And sometimes, I just see it infront of me when I am just resting."
The old woman was surprised to meet someone who knew some secrets of the ancient world. It is very rare for two clairvoyant to be in the same era. In this current era, they have this little girl, and the past era, it was the old lady.
"Would you like to come with me to talk more about your dreams?" asked the old lady.
"Uhhm, I am not sure if my mother would be happy if I come home late." the little girl mustered.
"Ohh well that is perfectly fine my dear. I hope to meet you again very soon, I also have the same power as you." said the old woman with a gentle smile on her face.
"Farewell then!" she added while slowly walking away.
Madelaine was intrigued about what the old lady said. She is usually the one making people uncomfortable with her "powers" as the old lady called it, but not this time.
